Regularly clean your equipment with tap water especially when your equipment has gotten wet due to contact with salt water. Clean it with a cloth and some tap water. Always hang it out to dry before storing it.
You should also try and avoid folding the kite wet. A wet kite might affect the colours especially if packed away for an extended time period. It can also create an environment for mold to grow (especially fresh water environments) Mold can damage the thread of the sewing.
Special attention should go to your control bar; after every session you should rinse it off with tap water to remove any sand and salt. The centre hole should be clean to ensure the depower rope doesn’t wear out.
For Twinskin kites, also pay special attention to the compact sticks. They should be regularly cleaned, this prevents them from getting corroded. If possible, clean them after every time they have been in contact with salt water. Rinse them with some tap water, especially the connection pieces.
