Luis Alberto Cruz just returned to Cabarete after him participating at the final World Kiteboarding League tour-stop of the year, Brazil. We received a short report about his adventures.
Cruz: “Im very happy to be able to make my trip to Cumbuco Brazil this year. I was afraid my injury from the previous tour stop in Egypt would take too long to recover and I could not make it to the Brazil stop. It was really hard to take some rest while I was so motivated to train and prepare for the next stop.
I travelled to Brazil with my friend Adeuri Corniel, he is always motivating me to push myself to the next level. This came in handy because after arriving in brazil I felt a bit uncomfortable as the injury still effects my riding.
I went training to get used to the spot and the local wind conditions. Luckily I was still able to stick all my tricks and to be aware of the boundaries of my injury. I was relieved to learn that it did not hurt too much!
On the first competition day I had to compete straight away in the first heat of the competition. I ended up 2nd place in my first heat advancing to the 3rd round, so really stoked about the result. Unfortunately the wind died out later that day. The following days the wind would not return forcing the organisation to cancel the competition.
Nevertheless I’m very happy with my results of this season. I feel blessed with my Peter Lynn Escape V6 and the support of my sponsors, without them all of this would not be possible. I’m looking forward to 2018 and I am super motivated to get stronger and improve my style and techniques. I want to become the champion of the World kite League in 2018 and I feel I can do it!”
