We have developed and evolved our entire range of kites to suit all riders desires with three different models because we believe we can make kiteboarding accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
The shape and performance of the Escape have evolved impressively over the last years making it the kite of choice for riders who seek top performance for freestyle, wakestyle and freeride. We develop with an open mind, which results in trying different techniques and stepping aside from accepted or assumed techniques to discover new possibilities. The prototypes are used by a wide range of riders and in widely diverse conditions to see how the kite performs in real life situations.
Peter Lynn Kiteboarding came to market with its kiteboarding kites about 7 years ago. Before releasing the first generation of these kites, years of development took place, starting from the ground up to develop our own designed kites. These years of development prior to the release of the first generation are essential for the development in later generations of the kites.
Lining up the V4, V5 and the Escape V6 gives a good impression of the evolution of the kite.
There are several visible and nonvisible improvements
The most significant improvement lies in the so called nose of the kite; the part of the kite where the canopy and leading edge meet. This is where the energy transformation takes place and where the wind flow has a big impact on the overall performance of the kite.
By using multiple mini sized segments in the canopy panels a smooth and clean transition between leading edge and canopy is created. This improves the airflow and results in better overall performance.
The shape and size of the tips have been transformed over the last generations. The wingtips of the V6 have a more straight and aggressive shape to enhance the freestyle performance.
The overall canopy shape of the kite has evolved into a refined Open C Shape adding much more C-feel into the experience. Following the development of the last generations you can notice that the kite turns quicker, offers more grunt, pop and slack on the lines, generates more power in the loops and has a wider wind range. The V6 Escape has a much more direct feel due to its smoother airflow and clean trailing edge.
The bridle layout of the kite has undergone some extensive changes. The overall bridle is shorter, more direct and more balanced to deliver a direct feel and sense of control.
No big deal on the flying characteristics you might say, but it does make life easier when you can pump up your kite faster and hassle free with the new inflate valve with bayonet fitting. You are able to use every kite pump you can find on the beach.
The use of Dacron has been reduced over the past years. This relatively heavy, non flexible material is only used in specific areas on the wingtips. The trailing edge is free of Dacron in the Escape V6. Dacron in the trailing edge is often used to cover up “flapping” trailing edges.
